Coley’s Point Primary School

Located in Bay Roberts, NL, the Coley’s Point Primary School project was a new build for the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation and Infrastructure that we completed in 2021. It includes general site services and development and the construction of a new one-storey school building.

Some building details include:

• Slab on grade with steel structure supporting penthouse floor and roof above.
• Penthouse floor consists of a steel deck on open web steel joists with concrete infill.
• Exterior walls made of concrete block with rigid insulation outboard of the concrete block with brick veneer and metal siding on the exterior.
• Interior walls made of concrete block of various thickness.
• Roof constructed mainly with open web steel joists, metal decking, insulation and two-ply MBM roofing. (However, the roof over the main lobby and music room include Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panels supported by a glulam structure).
• Overall project is targeting LEED Certified.
